Happy Happy Sunday! I have an upcoming trip planned to participate in a vintage holiday market / book signing and I am so excited because it means both that I get to travel (which I always look forward to) and that I get to source fun vintage.
I’ve specifically been looking for giftable items and things that could be used for holiday entertaining. On Black Friday, I went out with those specific objectives in mind.
This is the vibe I’ve been going for with my buy lately — chic items that can be gifted or used at home for entertaining. Pieces that are functional, but still feel special: trays, candle-holders, bags and jewelry that feel special enough for a holiday function.
And you know what? Manifestation works because I actually did find some of the above while thrifting!
I also found some things I did not get that still caught my attention…
Like this carved Japanese dragon chair
This antique Japanese carved and hand-painted dragon chair is absolutely gorgeous (and very much in the vein of the c*nty little chair movement) but it was broken on one side and isn’t necessarily my aesthetic. I left it behind for someone else! These go for a lot on the resale market, FYI….
And this brass starburst mirror
This is a new mirror and probably from a big-box store like Wayfair but it is pretty and would be fun for a powder bath!
Or this travertine dining and coffee table
Love travertine and the thrift store had this dining table, coffee table and console table to match. The tops were all glass which I am not always a fan of but also kind of regretting not picking these up. (I have a weird aversion to glass-topped tables, unless the base is really spectacular and meant to be seen or the glass itself is special — smoked or something.)
