At its absolute best, Facebook Marketplace can be chaotic.
The items are almost always poorly photographed, and badly described. Factor in the worst part of Facebook Marketplace (having to beg and plead for someone to take your money), and it can be Hell.
Perhaps that is why it remains an incredible place to shop. You have to fight for your life there but if you make it, baby you can find some gems.
Unlike curated resale sites, Marketplace still rewards the ability to see past the obvious. The best finds are listed vaguely — think “old table” or “heavy cabinet” — and priced by people who just want them gone.
Lately, I’ve been screenshotting pieces I’ve seen on Marketplace—not because they’re perfect, but because they’re promising. The kind of objects that could anchor a room if you used your imagination!
Below are several Marketplace finds I’ve seen recently, and exactly how I’d style each one so it looks impressive.

The Find: An arguably ugly pair of couches, $50
I know, they need to be deep-cleaned. And they look like something a grandma would have in 1995. But hear me out… the fabric is pure romance if styled well. These are quite honestly giving Pierce & Ward (designers behind Dakota Johnson and Leo Dicaprio’s homes, among countless other celebrities).
How I’d Style It
Instead of trying to tone them down, I’d double down by playing up the hyper-femininity and placing them in a room layered with lots of texture: velvet, shell, rattan
Adding in other doses of pinks, so the couches themselves aren’t a statement, but just a complement to everything else (Pierce & Ward does a great job of color-drenching, as seen in the images above)
Layering in a beautifully patterned rug for them to sit on and adding on some pillows
