I was literally obsessed with the handtle. I never pull my phone out at the movie theatre, but I took a photo in the dark just for that piece. For some reason as I was growing up, I'd pay attention to the features of those I was attracted to, taking very close note of their hands every time. I have some dark finished metal handgers for coats that I plan to hand by my front door, but I'm finishing a still life to cover my electrical panels first so I know how much wall space I can play with. Really comforted to know I'm not the only one who stopped for this incredible set piece.
I was also obsessed by the fireplace! I think it is also symbolic of tge yearning and need to escape tgat oppresses so many of the characters, but especially Cathy. I have a jewellery stand with 3 hands which I hang my necklaces off..now I will look at it a little differently.
Wow. I'm obsessed. Also curious if you there's any movies you love because of their set design? Recently started going down a rabbit hole looking for movies with interesting costume and set designs!
I did! 100% agree! He's one of my favourite directors. Would highly recommend The Shape of Water and Crimson Peak for the same reasons if you haven't seen them yet!
Altho I did not love this version of Wuthering Heights I did enjoy the set a costume design. Many hands! I found an MCM wood hand chair at the thrift for $49. I love it so much. Also found a vase with a hand holding an open flower. Possible by McCoy. Love your Substack!
I haven't seen it yet (mom life), but I just read about the skin room. 🥴 Safe to say that's a wall treatment we won't see featured in AD any time soon.
I have a light wood hand to store my rings. I put my rings on the upright fingers. It was unstable for years, so I finally found a small wood bowl with a dark finish and glued the base of the hand into the inside of the bowl. The bowl serves as a catch-all for brooches and pins and buttons.

I clearly have a hand gap, Virginia! Not a single hand-themed item! The right one will come.🤘
That handtle is incredible!
