Happy Friday!
In case you missed it, I’ve updated my year-long calendar of the biggest and best yard sales and flea markets worth traveling for. This is a good guide to bookmark, as the events take place all across the U.S.
Today, I’m rounding up some recent outfits that involve thrift finds, to show you how I style vintage with modern. On Sunday, I’m releasing my third in a series of under-the-radar clothing brands worth thrifting, so be sure to keep an eye out.
And on the subject of clothes…. have you guys tuned into any eBay live streams? There are pretty major brands on there. Like today at noon, there’s a sale of current-season, direct-from-the-brand Anine Bing clothing (some of it has light damage, but it’s priced accordingly, so you could get it majorly discounted). The same seller has another Anine Bing sale on October. 16; might be worth a look-see.
PS. I’ve got a big box of goodies going out to a paid subscriber this month! I send gifts to a paid sub selected at random every month (and Collector’s Circle members get a big box of my favorite things, plus a signed copy of Big Thrift Energy, btw).
xx,
VC
Here are some recent outfits utilizing vintage and thrifted finds:
Emily Dawn Long “Take Off Your Clothes” tee; vintage squash blossom necklace (belonged to my grandmother); vintage Jean Paul Gaultier skirt
vintage “Lichenstein’s Cat” tee (try as I might, I cannot find this anywhere except for a website that is in Japanese; I got mine for $25 at an antique gallery); washable silk pants; platform flip-flops; bucket bag with bag charms; paracord necklace; beaded necklace
vintage Vera pajama robe (antique mall find, came with the matching nightie which I wear as a dress), thrifted flower brooch, old Louis Vuitton bag, washable silk pants, nude flip-flops
vintage Phoebe Philo-era Celine dress (it’s on The RealReal for under $75!!), Attico flip-flops (purchased on The RealReal), The Row bag
red button-up; thrifted hot pink skirt (I will share details of this brand in a future letter it is very very niche and incredible), thrifted belt (came as part of a lingerie robe), Gianvito Rossi heels
When it comes to styling vintage and modern, I have a few workhorses:
If I’m going out for the evening, I use this body wash. The scent lingers, so you can use it in lieu of perfume and it is outstanding.
I recently shared my favorite vintage horse head belts on Instagram and almost all of them sold out within minutes so I’m sharing this one here first. It’s on the expensive side at $245 but still less than a third the cost of the viral Chloe horse belt and it’s by Judith Lieber.
If you collect matchbooks, this keepsake frame is a great idea.
A very fun vintage concha belt priced at $35.

And I’ll leave you with some sneak peeks behind-the-scenes of book two!
