A guide to the vintage furniture and decor that actually holds value—from Murano mirrors and sculptural lamps to designer ceramics and antique sculptures. After decades of thrifting and reselling, these are the pieces I always look for.
Virginia, I just finished Big Thrift Energy! It is so inspiring and instructive! I love your writing and style. As a journalist myself, I really appreciate your lived research and experiential analysis. An excellent source for every stylish thrifter!❤️❤️❤️
My friends and I are headed to the Round Top spring show on the look for furniture. We have our measurements and know what we are looking for — hoping for good deals.
I’m going to a vintage fair in a couple of weeks and am excited poke around for treasures! I always look for fabrication, design and anything really unusual! Wish me luck!
My parents were cleaning out my aunts apartment and found about $1000 cash in her recliner. Glad they found it before it went to a thrift store. It is possible. You might find that cash some day!
Love these pairings! I found a 19th century Indian wood relief on marketplace, a large scale tapestry of East Asian origin (the seller wasn’t sure where any of it came from, this was from my Googling) and a 1995 Hiroya bunny acrylic on canvas. That was a gift from my dad, who bought it from Hiroya in the 90s when he used to hang out at Chelsea guitars. I love collecting secondhand art though…some people really don’t know what they’re getting rid of! The wood relief was $50 bc it had a minor scratch on the back…wild lol

Thank you Susie!! That makes me so happy!

Round Top can be REALLY REALLY expensive so be sure to go to the fields and go early (a lot of the dealers shop at the fields and mark stuff up)!!
The Fields are our spot!
Smart women!!
I am kicking myself for leaving behind a Murano glass mirror I found at an antique store. Just like your photo! 😔

I have never seen an Akari lamp second hand OR a parasol pendant but you now give me hope….💪
Ever since the Goyard trunk I believe anything can be found! Still looking for a couch full of cash but someone found one at a Habitat Re:Store

WHOA~! Sounds like a museum collection!
Ahh thank you! An unintentionally discordant one perhaps…but am aiming for more harmony as I continue acquiring ❤️
